Dr. Sonia M. Alvarez-Robinson is a distinguished leader in strategy, innovation, culture, leadership, and resilience, with over 30 years of experience helping individuals and organizations to thrive.
As the founder of Life Shift, LLC, she helps individuals navigate personal and professional transitions. She works with organizations to build resilient teams and leadership capabilities. Passionate about empowering future leaders, she developed and teaches Strategies for Building Resilience for college students.
Professionally, Dr. Alvarez-Robinson has led strategy and organizational effectiveness in a university and was a global management consultant in a Big 4 firm. She has helped global companies implement new technologies, operational improvements, and strategic transformations. Her earlier career includes leadership roles in public health strategy, talent management, culture and inclusion, and talent acquisition for state agencies and private sector manufacturing companies.
Dr. Alvarez-Robinson holds a Ph.D. and master's degree in Human and Organizational Systems with a focus on culture and leadership from Fielding Graduate University, a master's degree in human development from St. Mary's University, a bachelor's in human resource management from Metro State University, MN, and is a Humphrey Institute Policy Fellow. She began her academic journey at Minneapolis Community and Technical College and previously served as a certified mediator with the Minnesota Supreme Court.
As a trauma survivor, Dr. Alvarez-Robinson brings a unique blend of extensive academic training, proven professional competence, and personal lived experiences to the field of resilience.
